Spicy Italian Pinwheels

Were a few weeks into school and the packed sandwich lunches are already getting mundane. Switch things up with these gorgeous and flavorful Spicy Italian Pinwheels!

Not only are these great for lunches, theyre also perfect for football season!

Im having a hard time this year with school being back in session. Weve been back for a few weeks but my youngest just barely started full day kindergarten three days ago.

I found myself in a puddle tears yesterday, scrolling through her baby pictures and wondering how on earth this happened?

Surely she is too young to be away from her mama all day long. I think this whole kindergarten thing just happened way too quick. She just turned 5 in July after all.

You guys, Im a mess.

I never had a problem with my older three children when they scooted off to school, but for some reason, my sweet baby leaving me has left me a wreak.

What I love about her so much is her love for a classic PB&J sandwich. Its adorable how much she loves those sandwiches.

My other kids? Nope, theyve had their fill. They want something a little more exciting in their lunchbox, like these Spicy Italian Pinwheels.

My kids actually really like these. Like, A LOT.

I actually saw some pinwheels like this at the grocery store in the deli, and picked up a package for a quick lunch on the run. My kids at nearly all of them before I could grab one.

I made a batch at home and it was a success. The Italian spice-infused Challenge cream cheese spread makes these pinwheels extra creamy, while the pepperoncini peppers give it that vinegar bite you love in a classic Italian sandwich.

I also added some provolone cheese and a few slices of deli ham, pepperoni and salami. Theres also a roasted red bell pepper in the middle!

These pinwheels would make the perfect addition to your lunch or party platter!

Spicy Italian Pinwheels

The Italian spice-infused cream cheese spread makes these pinwheels extra creamy, while the pepperoncini peppers give it that vinegar bite you love in a classic Italian sandwich!

  • Author: Shawn
  • Prep Time: 30 min
  • Total Time: 30 min
  • Yield: 40 pinwheels 1x
  • Category: Appetizer
  • Method: no cook
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 5 large (103) tortillas (I used Sun Dried Tomato Wraps)
  • 8oz Challenge Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 tbsp Italian Salad Dressing
  • 1 tbsp dry Italian herbs
  • 5 slices provolone cheese, halved
  • 15 slices deli ham
  • 15 slices thinly sliced salami
  • 20 slices pepperoni
  • 2 large roasted red bell peppers, drained and patted dry and cut into thin strips
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers, drained and patted dry

Instructions

  1. Combine the cream cheese, Italian dressing and Italian herbs in a bowl and beat until smooth and creamy. Spread about 2 tablespoons on each tortilla.
  2. Start layering ingredients on tortilla a little off center and evenly across the tortilla in a horizontal line in this order: 2 slices halved provolone cheese, 3 slices deli ham, 3 slices salami, 4 slices pepperoni, 3 to 4 strips of roasted red bell pepper, 1 tbsp pepperoncini peppers.
  3. Roll the pinwheel into a tight tube, starting at the end with the filling. Use a sharp knife to slice the pinwheels into 1 inch slices. OR wrap the tortilla roll in plastic wrap and store in fridge until ready to eat, then slice. Enjoy!

Notes

Can be stored in fridge for up to 3 days.
